PRIVACY NOTICE – Welsh Government – Diaspora Engagement
The Welsh Government’s International Relations team is responsible for the delivery of the Welsh Government’s International Strategy. A key aim within that strategy was to engage with and mobilise the Welsh diaspora. A key part of this work includes collecting a limited amount of personal data, via a third party, from the Welsh diaspora. If you consent, Welsh Government will use your contact details to share information with you relating to the areas in which you have expressed an interest.
Upon collection, the data controller will be a third party contracted by the Welsh Government. The data will be transferred over to the Welsh Government at the end of the contract, at which point the Welsh Government will become the data controller. Once transferred to the Welsh Government, the data will only be accessed by officials with an interest in engaging with the Welsh diaspora.
The lawful basis for collecting this information under Article 4(11) of the General Data Protection Regulations. “Consent’ of the data subject means any freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject’s wishes by which he or she, by a statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her.
